Euro 2016: Focus on Marseille

2016-06-12 15:22:00 from:SNTV

English and Russian went for an early stroll in Marseille before their two teams meet in Euro 2016 Group B on Saturday (11th June).

England face Russia in Marseille on Saturday evening, but the build up to the game has been overshadowed by clashes in the city involving England fans, local youths and police.

Officers in riot gear clashed with fans who threw bottles at police for a second evening in the city.

But early on Saturday morning, fans were in the city as the excitement continued to build ahead of the game.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Gary Toal, England fan from Newcastle:
"Yeah, it (clashes between fans, locals and police) has been overshadowing it (Euro 2016 in Marseille), it is a problem and it is not very nice to see, its not everybody, but there are a lot of people involved, it is a bit of a mob mentality and its not nice to see so we are trying to keep away from all that and enjoy the football."

With less than 12 hours to go until kick off, there is no sign of violent behaviour as both sets of fans settle in to enjoy the build up.
