Raymond Verheijen blasts Roy Hodgson's squad management
Friday, June 24, 2016 Source: Dailystar.co.ukHodgson has come under fire for making six changes for England’s final Group B game against Slovakia.
The Three Lions were held to a goalless draw in St Etienne and the result allowed Wales to win the group.
England play Iceland next in the last-16 but finishing second has left them in the strongest half of the draw along with the likes of France, Spain, Italy and Germany.
''The none-verbal tactical communication between players is the biggest problem with national teams as players hardly train with each other,” said Verheijen, who is director of the ‘World Football Academy’ and was assistant Holland boss at four World Cups and four European Championships.
''So what is the last thing a national team coach should do in Euro 2016? Rotating his players, as communication will decrease even more.
"This is exactly why teams like Germany and Spain have a big advantage.
''They play with many players from one club who have good communication.
"So national team coaches should play with their best XI every game to improve communication unless there are only two rest days between games.
''If England play with four to five Spurs players they basically ‘borrow’ the tactical communication developed between these players by (Mauricio) Pochettino.”
