Wales boss Chris Coleman rewards squad for Euro 2016 Group B heroics
Thursday, June 23, 2016 Source: Dailystar.co.ukAfter hammering Russia to top Group B and set up a last-16 clash with Northern Ireland, the Dragons boss rewarded his players with their first booze since they joined up to prepare for the tournament at the end of May.
"Some of the senior players came to me in the dressing room as we had one can of beer each in there," he said.
"It was great as we had not had a beer since we had been in camp.
"They came to me and said, ‘Can we have one beer back at the hotel? Then we will call it a night as we are playing on Saturday'.
"I didn't have to say anything, tell them don't be stupid or to have a beer and that is it. They took care of that."
Coleman now hopes his side can ensure the scenes on the pitch and in the dressing room in Toulouse will not be one-offs.
But he warned against complacency after Wales landed in what has been dubbed the easier half of the draw.
He said: "We have to have feet firmly on the ground here, even if everyone is talking about this possibility or that possibility.
"We have seen before that everything's possible in football, but one minute you're right there and everything's great, the next you take your eye off the ball and everything's fallen down."
