Shay Given impersonator tricks his way onto Sky Sports News

When Simon Brodkin (AKA: Lee Nelson) snuck his way into Fifa headquarters to throw a wad of cash in Sepp Blatter's face, you thought we had reached the pinnacle of football pranks.

Well, we were wrong. Dead wrong. A mystery man revealed himself to be a master of disguise after managing to trick his way onto Sky Sports News whilst pretending to be none other than goalkeeping legend Shay Given.

Discussing the serious and unfortunate ankle injury suffered by England international Jack Butland, one Sky Sports News researcher thought he had something of a scoop when someone claiming to be Given rang up offering his view on it.

They did not hesitate, putting him through to the presenter. Then hilarity ensued. As soon as the man claiming to be Given started speaking, it was beyond obvious that it wasn't him.

The high-pitched, broken Irish accent left the presenter almost speechless. He cut the interview short almost immediately.

ACTUAL SUPPORT

Given is set to deputise in the Stoke City goal after Butland fractured his ankle in England's win over Germany last week. But while Given will no doubt welcome a bit of first-team football, he was sad to see his young team-mate succumb to such a serious injury.

He tweeted this:

Butland's injury is set to keep him out of Euro 2016, where he was hoping to start in front of Joe Hart after a stellar season for the Potters.
