Busquets hits back at critics with a goal

Sergio Busquets scored Spain's second goal of the evening and the second of his international career against Belarus.

The goal came from a first-time strike after the opposing defence failed to clear the ball from the edge of their area. The Barça man benefited from a deflection, with the ball ricocheting off a defender before finding the back of the net.

Busquets was in the news in the run-up to the game against Belarus due to the fact that he is widely considered to be a long way off his best form. Leaving this debate aside, the midfielder got the job done in Huelva during his time on the pitch.

Vicente del Bosque decided to rest the 26-year-old and left him in the dressing room after the interval. Bruno Soriano took his place, after being drafted in at the last moment to cover for the injured Cesc Fàbregas.

Busquets was shown a yellow card in the 25th minute for an ugly challenge in the centre of the park and he made several mistakes during the first half. Nevertheless, the anchorman left the Nuevo Colombino stadium with a decent enough performance. He scored and was given a rest.
