France turns its back on Benzema
Monday, February 29, 2016 Marca.com
According to a survey, seven out of ten Frenchmen do not want Real Madrid's Karim Benzema to play for France following the alleged sex-tape blackmailing scandal involving Mathieu Valbuena.
The survey results, announced today on 'RTL' radio, showed that football fans were somewhat less scathing with the Real Madrid man as only 66% of them want to see the striker permanently dropped from 'Les Bleus'.
In general terms, the French are not huge fans of their own national team right now, given that 67% are unimpressed with 'Les Bleus', a figure that drops to 54% when questioning football fans.
With just three and a half months to go until this summer's European Championship in France, 78% of Frenchmen do not think the hosts will lift the trophy, compared with 66% of football fans.
